About Carlyle

Vibrant Commercial and Residential Community: Carlyle is a unique mixed-use community in Alexandria, accommodating a dense assortment of uses including high-rise residential complexes, large floor-plate office buildings, a luxury hotel, and retail establishments. Just west of Old Town, the neighborhood includes a variety of natural and urban open spaces and parks, a balance of jobs and residents, and a retail/entertainment center, serving both a local and regional market. Carlyle is now considered a new city within a city, with distinctive architecture, and a mix of businesses, residences, and retail.

Easy Access: The Carlyle Community is conveniently located right off the I-495 beltway and is served by two metro stations – King Street and Eisenhower Avenue — the VRE Station — as well as Metro bus and shuttle services.

Parks and Recreation: John Carlyle Square Park, in the heart of Carlyle, is an urban square with a plaza, open lawn area and tree-lined walkways that serves as Carlyle’s most popular entertainment venue for festivals, concerts and community events. Other parks include Courthouse Square Park across from The Westin Alexandria and Dulany Gardens, that sits at the center of the USPTO complex headquarters. The National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum is located in the Madison Building of the USPTO campus. The African-American Heritage Park and Masonic Temple are located nearby. In addition, in the Carlyle Community you will find public tennis courts, a dog park and pocket parks.

Carlyle Council: The organization representing the Carlyle community is the Carlyle Council (CCC) that oversees the open spaces, parks and community amenities in Carlyle. CCC serves as the business and community development organization for Carlyle and advocates on behalf of Carlyle stakeholders on matters impacting the community. In addition, Carlyle Council manages Carlyle’s Transportation Management Program (TMP), in coordination with the City of Alexandria, that strives to optimize transit programs and services for the property owners, businesses, workers, residents and visitors in Carlyle. CCC is served by a 7-member board of directors representing Carlyle property owners.
